Leonardo.Ai has launched a new brand identity and introduced its new Creative Engine API, marking its first major update since joining Canva.
The new Creative Engine API allows developers and businesses to connect Leonardo’s generative AI models directly into their own apps and platforms. This means companies in design, media, gaming, and marketing can now build AI-powered creative tools using Leonardo’s technology.
Cameron Adams, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Canva, called the launch a “massive milestone.” He said the API is a game-changer because it turns Leonardo’s creative tools into a foundation that any developer or enterprise can use to build new products faster.
Along with the API, Leonardo introduced a new brand theme called “Yours to Create.” The company says the new identity reflects its belief that creativity belongs to everyone. CEO JJ Fiasson said the focus is not just on what AI can do, but on helping people unlock their creative potential.
The rebrand was developed with design firm Koto and includes a new visual style, motion system, and typography. Leonardo describes the new look as inspired by a “modern renaissance” of creativity.
Since being acquired by Canva, Leonardo has continued to operate as a standalone platform while also supporting Canva’s AI features. With the launch of its public API, Leonardo is now moving beyond individual creators and positioning itself as infrastructure for developers and large businesses.
